When you’re on the go or unable to use your laptop, you might need to access your server to check something, modify settings, or apply urgent work to do.

Here are some situations where securely connecting to your server from your smartphone can be helpful:

  • Applying urgent security patches
  • Downloading or uploading data from the server
  • Checking for server issues

In these cases, using the Termius app on your iPhone can provide a convenient and secure way to access your server. Similar apps are available for Android devices.

With a 4.7 rating on the App Store and positive reviews, Termius seems to be a popular choice among users.

Termius offers a 14-day free trial of its premium features. Even after the trial ends, the app remains free of intrusive ads. The premium service unlocks additional features, as shown in the image below. However, the premium service’s price might be a drawback for some users.

Fortunately, the free version provides all the features I need, so I haven’t felt the need to upgrade.

Note: I drafted this story while ago, and had forgot to publish it. But I think, it still worth to share for those who require secondary way to connect in to servers from time to time. Now, I see the company also provides the app for all major platforms, worth to try it from other OSes in their website (termius.com).

Here are some of the app’s advantages:

  • Clean and intuitive user interface
  • Supports various connection options (SSH, Telnet, FTP, port forwarding, etc.)
  • Free version is ad-free

However, there’s one downside:

  • The premium version, which unlocks all features, is not cheap

Overall, Termius is a great option for securely accessing your server from your iPhone/iPad. While the premium version might be expensive for some, the free version offers enough functionality for most users.
